New Here
I don't know about anything. I am a former Marine served served in Iraq. I feel like I am a complete freak. I don't even know what to say here. Did the therapy thing, made things much worse. I have pretty much spent my time since being home in my own little dark world. I have been pre occupied with death. Don't know where to turn or who to talk to.

Welcome Iron take your time read through the posts and get to know the other members here you are not alone in the way you're feeling.
First and for most you are not a freak you served your country and that you should be proud of.
There are people on here who served in Vietnam / Desert storm / Northern Ireland / Former Yugoslavia / Afghanistan / Iraq and a few places in between.
There are veterans from the USA - Canada - Australia - United Kingdom just to mention a few.( Sorry to those other nationalities i have missed out )

Iron horse,

Welcome my Brother. Posting here is what we call a baby step, and those small steps are what keeps us all going. There will be many more. And, each one will bring you closer to home.

As fwduff said, take time to read through the posts, and you'll see that you're definately not alone. There are thousands of us all over the world. The U.S. Marine Corps is moving toward addressing problems associated with post traumatic stress faster than most branches of service. Generals and Command Sgt. Majors are coming forward and admitting that they too are suffering.

DON'T STOP TRYING
DON'T LOOK BACK
STAY IN THE PRESENT
DON'T BEAT YOUSELF UP. YOU'VE BEEN WOUNDED, AND THE WOUNDS NEED ATTENTION
KEEP WORKING WITH THE COUNCELORS AT THE VA AND VET CENTERS. WHAT DIDN'T WORK TODAY MAY MAKE A DIFFERENCE TOMORROW.
STAY WITH US, AND KEEP POSTING.

Hey Iron Horse, I am an Aussie and from what I understand there is no such thing as a former Marine. As for therapy, did you expect to do therapy and be fixed. We have guys on this forum from the Vietnam conflict that have been fighting the same war that you have in your head, except they have been doing it for over 30 years.
Get out and get some sunshine and smell your freedom. Go get some more therapy. Go to some veterans centres and talk to some fellow veterans.

If you want help, we are here to give it mate, just ask.

Welcome Marine OOHRAH!

Old Nam Fart here - your in the right place, like Jimmy said, keep an open mind on the therapy thing. Trust me-it works! Your a warrior and you have a wound that leaves no noticable scar but is as fatal as the worst you ever witnessed if left untreated. Hook up with a Vet Center near you - these are fellow vets who get it.

So nice to hear from someone in the exact same place as I am. Therapy aside, I have a good meds doc and am finding some stability.

Ran out of some drugs last week, and thought I could get away with it for a few days. Damn, that was stupid.

Welcome.

Welcome Marine. All due respect but you haven't done the "therapy thing" I can promise you that...it is hard, long and full of baby steps. You may not have been ready, or had the right therapist but please keep after it. You need to find the right team. I do agree, poorly managed Med-soups can make one feel worse but that should not be confused with "therapy." You need to take charge of your medical team and "try" to know more than they know, I mean don't ever let medical titles impress you. You know what you're dealing with better than they do. Being here is a good start...stay safe, stay strong.
