I did the Burns Depression Test and I have lost a massive 20 points going from extreme depression to severe depression! It is SUCH an improvement! I am only 14 points off being moderately depressed! I am ecstatic at the improvement!

I am doing about twenty things to manage my PTSD and my Depression. I have often worked hard with minimal success! This is significant! I had to share it with you all!

I can see why @anthony highly recommends this book! I am not beginning my second read through! I cannot recommend it too highly!

Thanks @otakujome! Now I can keep building on this and I will be moderately depressed before I know it! After being extremely depressed since I was such a small child it is a massive achievement for me!

It gives me tremendous hope!

Once I am moderately depressed then I can work towards mild depression. I can see it happening!

And one day I might even be within normal range!

But I am not going to get grandiose here - I am keeping my eye on the prize and for now that is moderate depression!

You have really applied yourself and been devoted to resources and goal/challenges. Congratulations and hugs, I am happy that you documented this improvement so that you can remember/retrieve it as you need to. You have accomplished this even with a budding new relationship and B's father who has dementia! Kudos to you Ms. Spock. Well done and don't rob yourself of the success before you set your sights on the next goal/hurdle?:tup::tup:;)

I hear a very hopeful and inspired Vulcan who has received some good news via verifiable and independent testing. Occasionally testing (once a year or two) helps me too... like that U Penn stuff I'm doing now. It marks my place on the map "You are HERE"... and I generally find that helpful if not entirely comforting. It is though a reality check... but choose your measuring stick wisely. The U Penn stuff may not be wise for people with more than mild depression for instance. Even with that, I'm trying to level out again before I do the next battery of questionnaires.

May I ask you the name...

Thank you @shrinkingviolet The name of the book is "Feeling Good" by David Burns. Read what anthony has written about it and some others like @joeylittle who wrote an article on cognitive distortions, as well on this forum. That will give you an idea.

Thank you for the acknowledgement @fellowsufferer. It has been a log hard slog but well worth it! (It didn't feel like it a lot of the time, but as I now am learning to a deeper place feelings aren't facts.)
