@Cj77 I know the feeling. Whenever I feel like giving up, I think of this quote from the song Scar Tissue by the Red Hot Chili Peppers: " I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl." . It inspires me, so I hope it helps you too. Hugs if you accept them :hug:

I realize that I enjoy taking care of other people so much, because it distracts me from my own problems and makes me feel better about myself.

As part of my recovery, I have finally come to the place where it is time to examine my own character defects and I have done a lot of soul searching and and am only touching the tip of the iceburg.

In a way this is a good sign that I am still growing up and beginning to mature and I want to be placed on the right path again.

I realize that even if I don't believe it that lots of people tell me how beautiful, unique, of value etc I am. I mean, seems a bit over-the-top & just kind of them, but I also am trying to just 'let it be' instead of actively denying it.

I realize that I can not make everyone happy or tell them what they want to hear. I also realize that I have to stop blaming myself and taking the things people say to me personally when they try mind reading or jump to conclusions. I feel better getting that out.

I've realised now that the only way things are going to get better, is to forget the past!

Which is hard to do when you've been ripped off, lied to, cheated on,and had all your life savings stolen, along with everything of value in your house! By people you thought were family?

But despite it all, I am looking ahead and making plans for the future, for a start I'm going to spend Christmas with my sister in Holland.

Of course the past does come into my mind, but I just have to rise above it, after all, why should I let trash like that spoil my life, they are not worth it!

I realize that I am very confused on which parts of me are PTSD and which parts are character flaws

I realize though at times I would like to "run away" from all these extra stresses right now, I am also learning so much about myself.

It's like I am facing the fear and at the same time, I am feeling empowered at what I'm doing and not being afraid to get angry, assertive and above all, be authentic and accepting of me.
