This is as close to anything I saw, Angle...

And all that I saw were really faded O.D. Green. Maybe if he uses a flat O.D. green, it would be more accurate for the time. I know Testors used to make a dull cote clear you could spray over the decals to make every thing sort of flat, faded look. The choppers didn't spend a lot of time under a cover of any kind unless they were in for repairs.

That sun over there was murder on paint. I remember the camo paint on our Herks would oxidize so much it came off in your fingers.

I can only imagine what the sun does to paint in the middle east. First it oxidizes, then the sand blown by the wind must sand them clean.

Now, THAT is the pure definition of cool, Ba. I see pictures of the C-130s down at the bone yard in Tucson and start measuring the back yard.......

I can see the convo, "Excuse me but I'd like to buy one of your 130s", answer, "what are you, nuts?" answer, "yes".

Cheers my brothers,

Helps more than what I found, but then I figured you guys would have better conections then the old faded fotos I located.

As for the 130 Sarg, if you had the room! you know you would.

I recall a huge "Bone Yard' just west of Phoenix near Gila Bend (I think) - is that still there? Back in the day an ol' boy from Brooklyn used to head out of San Diego to Phoenix to visit his Mom. We'd have just enough gas in that old 56 Dodge to get us up through the mountains then put it in neutral and coast (Mexican Over Drive) down into the desert. Just goes to show how broke we were back them days, gas was about 27 cents a gal. and buy it 2-3 bucks at a clip. Them day are gone!

Don't know about that one, Ba., just the one in Tucson and they have the Air Museum nearby. There's a photog that goes around the bone yard just taking pictures and posting them on the net. I've got a great collection of his work with aircraft I grew up with...C-47s, 124s, 123s.

Been there, done that on the mex O.D.

I've kinda' got a new hobby. It's wondering how many cars that my neighbor parks on our street are stolen and how many are registered in the city? Hmm. Not a good hobby. Like to see em' go back to the city on a rail.
