I know about cloroform too. For me, it was mainly used for transportation. I was curled up in a small suitcase and just carried out of my grandparent's house by a 'forgetful' valet.

Mercy, I am so deeply sorry that you were treated that way!!!I know what it means to feel like an inanimate object rather than a human being.

A lot of time in transit is when I would get hit with the chloroform. I would sometimes 'come out of it' to the sounds of Pink Floyd dark side of the moon playing over the stereo and the sight of trees passing by overhead. (hahaha I reclaimed that music for myself and can listen to it with flashing back :) )!!!

The guy that did this to me was a psychology major in college....what a slime-ball!

Hello Mercy

Apologies for being a little late in welcoming you to the forum - so welcome :peekaboo:

As you have read many people can relate directly to your trauma, others less directly to your trauma, but as survivors we can relate to the effects of trauma. No-one is here to compare trauma's, just to help support each other through the aftermath. I think that you and Webvixen are saying the same thing - that pain is pain, no matter what the cause.

Being triggered by anything is unpleasant, but in a way I'm glad you got triggered, since it got you back into therapy, to hopefully help manage your symptoms, and lessen your stressors, so that in future you won't be full blown triggered by other stuff you hear. That will be a really positive place to get to. :applause:

All the best

Kat, Yes I like to read books. One of my very favorite books is The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. It is about WWll and how this Dutch watchmaker and his family help in the Dutch resistance. It is an easy to read book and actually quite charming with plenty of vinyettes of Corrie's life that sustain her and her sister after they get caught by the Nazis.
