Irrational Outbursts At The Wrong People

Not sleeping for someone with PTSD is like a diabetic going on a sugar binge. It might taste nice at the time - but you really dont want a toe amputated. If you're having a hard time sleeping (not your fault - hello PTSD) then possibly speak to your therapist about something which may help you calm down. Maybe it's not even a pill. Perhaps it's a meditative exercise, etc etc etc. Whatever works for you - but sleep is key for someone with PTSD in my opinion.[/quote]

This is just what I signed up to this forum to have validated ..THANKS superjen !!

I have noticed I am completely incapable of controlling my mean/nice -ness when I haven't slept the full 8 or even more hours. I take a natural amino acid when the 'wheels fall off' which means a depressive, PTSD state of panick and nightmares. At these peak episode times I feel so full of worry that I will flip out that I am consumed by it for days just scoffing aminos till I calm down and feel normal again. This is my life, and I have to make sure I am not being too aggressive to my 7 year old who quite a challenge and can get the worst outbursts from me if I am not really onto it.

And at the same time I am journalling every day to process the painful event that started this stress and I am being as brave and honest as I can be without confronting myself too hard and too fast...
