Is this dissociation?

Getting sensations when almost falling asleep. Don't know what it is flashback, dissociation etc...I'm worrying that it's a hallucination or something. Sometimes it happens when awake as well.

It's exactly the same as a feeling during a trauma. It only lasts for a few seconds before I shut it down/block it out when awake or if it's during the transition to sleep, I startle awake and it stops.

Reads like sleep paralysis, rather than disassociation.
OK thanks. I've looked at this and I'm not sure because I also have it when awake and the trauma was related to falling asleep as I woke during surgery and was then put back to sleep. What I'm feeling now is like my arm (which I had a muscle block on and it felt like it was not part of my body during the trauma) is again, not part of my body and is sort of slightly in front of where it actually is. When it's falling asleep, it's like my whole body moves slightly in front of where I am. Hope that makes sense.

hello tiler. welcome to the forum.

my read was night terrors but those are in the same neighborhood as @Friday 's guess of sleep paralysis. my own night terrors happen in that nether world between wakefulness and sleep. my night terrors are not always terrible, but i have yet to find a better term for those quirky little mixes of dreams and reality. ?night weirds?

OK thanks for your reply.

I'm just thinking as it's not only when I sleep it's also when I'm awake during the daytime?
