Oh definitely @Wastinglight. I was having major lower back problems, I was terrified as my back would just keep going into spasms and I couldn't move. I do twice a week and my lower back core strength is so much better. I could even go into the ocean the other day and not have problems with my back and the waves. And it is easy and relaxing because you do all the breathing as well. I do have a very good instructor though, She is a really good physiotherapist. I do feel better about my body because of it. It helps.

Yeah, it's great for back problems. I'm tempted to mention it to my partner, as he often has lower back pain. He's been to several doctors and physios and it appears to be a symptom of his anxiety/stress, rather than a structural problem. I know what his response will be: "Pilates is for girls." Maybe I should tell him that his favourite NFL player does Pilates too....!

. Yes I must admit I wish there were more men there! Or sometimes not. I found it a bit hilarious because I couldn't figure out how they are supposed to lift their pelvic floor. Then my pilates instructor said they have to lift their balls up which uses the pelvic floor muscles. I just don't know whether now if there is a man in the class I am not going to have this image of balls lifting up when she tells us to lift our pelvic floor (which she does often) and be distracted by that!

BAHAHAHAHA! That is so funny. I never really thought about it. I have to say, I don't get why more men aren't taking up Pilates. So many professional male athletes include it in their training regime, that says a lot. Those guys don't spend a second doing any sort of training that doesn't yield significant fitness outcomes.

Unfortunately no Pilates at the gym. Yoga, and the big thing around here, Zumba. I hate Zumba. Loved Pilates when I was in dance.

The kind of classes I need are more like art or other creative classes. Our recreation program used to offer so much but then got caught up in political corruption, now there's nothing. I'd like to take painting, or stained glass or creative writing. There was an Italian culture class that taught basic Italian phrases and foods and traditions. That's the kind of stuff that would get my mind off of him. And it would be more social, people doing things that I like to do. Not that exercise isn't good. I took kickboxing and cross training for a few years. I liked it but it was expensive and everyone was much younger than me. I didn't lose any weight either. Unfortunately there's nothing much around here anymore.
