I was just talking to dad, he was a Marine during the Korea and Vietnam eras... He said riding an AMTRAC in to the beach made him all shaky... there was only about 2 feet of the craft above the waterline, it was constantly taking on water... rolled like a drunk sailor coming back from liberty... he said when it hit the beach it was like getting punched in the jaw depending on the angle of the sand..

Osprey, LCAC, CH-53E with a hummer and a platoon of Marines flown in behind the lines etc... or several flying in an artillery battery to get em where it hurts.... ya I miss being deployed sometimes.... adrenaline can be a good thing...
