I believe it is absolutely normal to feel the uncomfortable emotions you mentioned in your post, especially when first beginning counseling. My therapist told me that, the first time I came to counseling, I looked as if I were about to bolt for the door, to which I replied, "I was." I mean I was terrified. It was very uncomfortable at first and there were many times I wanted to give up and quit, but I stayed and it turned out to be one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I can't speak much about employment though as I have been disabled with PTSD for past 10+ years. I literally became too weak and exhausted from the stress to stand up on my own and had to file for disability benefits. Anyway, I wish you much success with counseling and with your career.
