I HATE DOCTORS.....

And no matter how long I've been seeing a LPC, I still hate them too. Even though I have a fantastic T!

But my in-out need for medication and the recent addition of Prazosin has made it really hard for my pcp to help me as she just isn't up on mental health stuff outside of the normal "I'm sad"

I know a Psych that I like(as much as I like people) and she agreed to see me.

Why do I feel so sad about needing this? I've manage to make it so far with my T and fly under the medication radar and junk. Feeling defeated, I hate people, doctors, but especially head doctors!! Trust is unbearable, I'm overwhelmed.

My rule: See a cardiologist for heart problems, an OBGyn or CNM for pregnancy, & a neurologist, psychiatrist, or APPRN for the brain. Hearts, babies, brains... All pretty specialized fields. If I'd see a dermatologist for my skin? Or an orthopedic surgeon for my bones? I think my brain deserves equal consideration.

Hi @Panda Bear,

I don't know if this reframing will help, but you're not going there to trust that doc with you, you're going there to grab ideas & more options about your health state and it's up to your consideration if you'll take 'em or not, after then - the doctor is like a store clerk about your health, helping you grab the right medicine, and in case that doesn't work, you can move onto the next one or other therapy modalities?

That you're even considering it is commendable.

I hope that the theraphy helps you :)

And yea, as Friday said, go to a professional for something. In todays world, mental health is often set aside as unimportant or similar

I've been seeing a therapist for 4yrs but never a psychiatrist. I've responded very well to my current methods of therapy over the years, so no need to change that aspect.

I mostly need help with intermittent medication management, as my need is seasonal/situational. The Psyc won't do any 'therapy' as that is already covered elsewhere. Medication help here and there...lIt's just being honest, and trusting of a new person that will learn some details of my life. That's scary and overwhelming. Took me over two years to build trust with my T...so this is hard for me.
