New Here
I have never joined one of these things but I am forcing myself to do this so I can smile again.

My name is Rachel and I am 27 yrs old....

To be honest I really don't know much about myself. I think I am funny, I think people would say I am smart but - I just don't know.

At this point I am scared, confused, and all around just messed up but if you looked at me I would look "normal".

I guess if anyone could just befriend me and help me realize that I am not alone that would be super.

-Rachel

PS - thanks in advance!

Hi Rachel, welcome to the forum. Don't worry, we all look normal... that's the issue with mental illness, you just can't see it by looking at someone.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Rachel.
You are not alone. I too suffer with all of this and fee all around messed up.
Take a look around the forums and you will find some tools to help with the journey ahead. You have already taken the biggest step by sharing and asking for help.

Rachel,

Welcome to the forum.

I remember feeling the same way the day I found and joined this forum. You will find great people who are willing to help and tons of information.

Relax, be yourself and hopefully get a better handle on this thing we ALL suffer from.

Welcome..keep reading, keep posting. Take in as much info as your brain will allow. You can live with this and smile again. It takes hard work and time but there are some of us here that are living with this. The best way to explain it for me...I have good days and bad days. Since I was diagnosed and treated..I have better days. I actually have more good days than bad. Though...the bad days as much as I wish they would go away..they do not. There are a lot of supportive people here....

Hi Rachel,

Friends are numerous here :) and PTSD is "normal" for all of us. You are in good company.

Welcome!

Was scared out of my mind to post the first time, too!

I have found so much here that has been helpful to me, with the most significant being that I am not alone. Just thought I needed to share that with you!

Hi, Just Diagnosed...Scared,
I am new here, too, but you are so far ahead of the game! I mean that you are "diagnosed and scared" instead of "diagnosed and in denial". Once you know what you are dealing with -PTSD-, and you decide you want to deal with it -PTSD, you are ahead of the game in my book. You have taken a first step by reaching out for help. I am also taking a step on my journey by reaching out beyond my isolation. If we can get past the anxiety and fear, I believe the journey can continue for us. I am believing I can. Maybe you can believe you can, too. Peace.

Hi Rachel,

You are not alone anymore. We spend a lot of time "faking it" to go along with looking normal. Now that you know it has a name: PTSD, you won't need to feel like you're crazy.

Welcome friend,

Amy Lou

Dear Smile,
Welcome! You are not alone, we are all hear to help. I am 26 years old and has just recently been diagnosed with Ptsd. Its horrible. Have you got a therapist, or someone you can talk to? You can always talk here and we will give you a safe space to listen.

Take Care,
Lucky Pink.

Welcome to the forum. No one here is alone, though many if not all of us may feel like we are at times. My advice to anyone is to seek professional help. It's not cowardice, it's not weakness. Standing up for yourself, choosing to put one foot in front of the other and making the right decisions to seek help shows a strength that many others can't muster.

Hang in there!
