Just Joined Today

[Missunderstood]

Hi I'm new to the forum. I am a survivor of sexual abuse (including incest). I suffer from PTSD and had a very terrible Thanksgiving. I am having a very hard time dealing with all of this and hope to learn from my peers. This is my first time confronting my issues and I am pretty scared. Thanks for listening.

Hi MissUnderstood welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear that you did not have a very good Thanksgiving. This time of year can be very difficult. I do not have PTSD myself but I do have an anxiety disorder and have occasional bouts of depression and I can relate to some of the symptoms of PTSD (e.g. withdrawal, isolation, hypervigilance) although not to the same degree. You're right it can be very hard to deal with all of these things and I am sure it is difficult as you have said to "confront" your "issues." Just posting to this forum may have been difficult for you but you did it! It is okay to feel scared. It can be intimidating to post at first especially about something so personal. I know I felt very vulnerable the first few times I posted but I am glad I did. It felt like a weight had been lifted. This is a very supportive forum with a lot of great resources and wonderful people. There is also a lot of helpful information on the PTSD forum. Take your time with posting about your experiences and feelings. Read up on other members posts. You will know when you are ready to share and there will be many supportive people here to listen.:hug:

I just wanted to say you're expressing something I sure identify with! I, too, am an incest survivor. Thanksgiving was very difficult this year (therapists have been patching me up this week).
