Last movie or tv series you watched?

Dirk Gently’s Hollistic Detective Agency

Read the books years ago... it’s actually a fun way to kill some time “Pick someone who looks like they know where they’re going, and follow them.”

ETA ... Aaaaargh! I was just gettin into it and the darn series ended :banghead: Well? Now for something completely different.

I am a killer. Very sad. Very sad indeed. It really made my political beliefs swing wildly throughout each episode to extremes which makes me ashamed to admit. I feel so sad society has failed children who have grown into these people. I mainly feel very angry at all of us ( not forum members) that people are out there being made into perpetrators or failing to be identified as troubled right now. I want to know very badly what the difference is that saved me from hurting others badly so I can share it.

I'm in the middle of the 1949 version of "All the King's Men"--a fictionalized version of the rise & fall of Huey Long in New Orleans. Cool film noir feel to it. Also, Little Wendell is trying to figure out how to grow up sexually, and there is something about the non-graphic sexuality of romantic couples in old movies that is very helpful. Lots of focus on chemistry and touch and gaze, and that is very helpful to understand how people connect.

OMG! So hysterical! I have always loved Carol Burnett and this show. At one of my jobs, my boss and I sat on either side of a cube wall.... One day, he called out "Mrs. (he)Wiggens" and I shot back "What do you want Mr. Tudebal?!" He roared with laughter; I don't think he thought I would know what he was talking about. LMAO for both of us. I miss him.

Good? Yes.
Is it as good as Clancy's books?
Nope!

But Clancy used to brief the -everyone- (joint chiefs, cia, fbi, etc.) on the research he did for his novels... his knowledge was bleeding edge, and a year later when the book was published, still cutting edge. Heck, we still have a couple Navy printings of his book that came out maybe a year before the mass market hardbacks came out.

There’s no way a movie or series can ever really reproduce that aspect, let alone a thousand pages of storytelling. Everything has to be bigger, brighter, & blow up more, instead. I like movie special effects... they don’t look anything like the real thing, usually. But they still don’t come close to the gripping full immersion of a good book.

But it’s a decent reimagining of Jack Ryan, if he was born 50 years later.

I think Chris Pine is my fav. Harrison Ford Heir Apparent, but the series was unexpectedly good :)

***
My fav. Tom Clancy Heir Apparent died of cancer only maybe a dozen books in... but Vince Flynn & Mitch Rapp are stellar if you haven’t read those books, yet! Less “how the f*ck does he get his intel?” & more great story telling
