Hi new2this2

Welcome to the forum.

Come down to the supporters area and read some of the other posts, this does not have to all bad, you can make it through this together.

It can be hard and very frustrating for both of you, but the more you learn and the more you do your best to support him in the right way, the better it will be for both of you.

I hope he has found some kind of support for himself, and you are taking good care of yourself. saying to take care of yourself may have you thinking, "But What About Him", but if you dont do this, it will be harder for you.

Take care and keep posting, asking any questions you have, the only daft ones, are the ones you DON'T ask.

Amethist.

Thank you for responding and having a place to openly discuss issues.

I not quite sure what I'm geting myself into, but I'm willing to to stand by his side. He has openly discussed his combat experience that contributes to his condition, but I feel he minimizes the affect PTSD has on his life. Some days he is very affectionate and the next, he totally ignores me. Emotionally, he tends to run very hot and cold. He has really bad nightmares where he sobs uncontrollable, talks or fights in his sleep. He doesn't fall asleep unless I am laying beside him, and has instructed me how to deal with him in his sleep. I am not afraid of him, but he tends to be more aggressive if he's drinking (which he rarely does). He's a good really good man and father, and I love him.

Hi new2this2, Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry your fellow is suffering, and you along with him. There is a lot to learn and even more to cope with. He sounds pretty "normal" for PTSD. It doesn't get better fast, or maybe at all. It is a lot to sign up for. There are lots of good, honest, sensible people here, I'm glad you found this forum.
