Let The Games Begin - London 2012 Olympics

thank goodness the games are about over. ... return of normal TV programs.

A polite boo to this! I'm sad the first games are over, it's been the most amazing atmosphere here in London and in the rest of the country from the sound of it. Having lots of good news in the media for once shows how much of a negative effect the news normally has.

I hope the feel-good factor continues through the Paralympics.

In looking for information on the upcoming games, I ran into this bit of news:
Full TV Coverage for Paralympics, Just Not in US

LONDON August 23, 2012 (AP)
This year's Paralympics are expected to draw their largest ever live television audience — except in the United States, where events will receive only minimal coverage and won't be screened as they happen, prompting anger from some fans and campaigners.

It looks like I'll have to look for an internet source for the games I want to watch. I haven't watched TV in a while now, so I can't really punish the networks by turning the channel.

Now I just want to start by saying I don't REALLY mean this, I'm just in a hacked off mood and feeling a little dark humour. Is anyone else watching the para Olympians (who are of course wonderful :meh: ) but listening to all that inspirational chitter chatter is making me feel a little sick :shifty: . Is it wrong to wonder about swapping ptsd for a limb???

Then I was thinking what about ptsd sports.....Like....The 500m shopping centre dash, The 4x4 family sunday dinner....

Or what about depersonalisation categories??? The long jump with disembodied legs?

:spitdummy:

:roflmao: @ Springer80's post.

I love the Para Olympics but it does get on my nerves that they make such an issue of how inspirational they are. I know they Are inspirational but it gets a bit old after a while. I think these wonderful athletes would prefer to be treated like any other great sports person.

I didn't watch the opening ceremony because I simply forgot and was watching Stargate SG1 with my lads! Looks like I made the right choice!

I was looking forward to watching the para Olympics, but John Snow just gets on my nerves (nothing personal his voice just annoys me), the number of advert breaks also gets on my nerves.I'm also with Springer in that I don't really want to hear tear jerking stories every five minutes. I am completely in awe of the all Olympians, and Para Olympians, but I too don't want to swamped with their stories.

So trying to avoid too much chit chat, trying to avoid John Snow, and trying to avoid the ad breaks - I haven't seen much at all. I haven't found a decent guide, as to when certain events will be live. Nor have I found a guide to when sports with a UK hopeful medallist will be shown.

The BBC's sport coverage was far superior to what I have seen from Channel 4 so far. I'm disappointed :(
