Let's Be Workout Freaks Together

Back on track... 30 minutes walk/run on treadmill this morning and back to pilates this evening... though I'm giving myself permission to "do what I can" and not kill myself like I did last time.

My gym ball was delivered today, the barbells will be here tomorrow (poor parcel delivery guy will have to carry them all the way around the house and up onto the second floor, all 16kg). I'm all giddy and exited :D The idea of no longer having arms like sticks is so great; it will keep me motivated, I'm sure. Next year this time I'll be able to dish out considerable punches ô.o

Gym Ball and barbells have been used thoroughly since their arrival. They also got another little friend: Protein powder. Yum.

I put together two different barbell routines with the help of a friend who does some serious body building. At first I worked with weights every other day, but it seems like - at least at the moment - my muscles need more time than that to recover.

It's pretty fun moving those weights, though. I put on some podcast or other and workout away. I'm also doing relatively good stretching-wise; maybe I'll show off my side splits, once I actually get there :D

How's it going for you guys?

My chiropractor has unlocked my wrist twice, apparently in pilaties I jam the arm bones into the hand bones, and can't get it to unlock. Both my husband and I are in middle school swim season... but I need to get my butt back on the treadmill. I get one more wrist adjustment next Thurs. then can go back to pilates. But planking has to be done on my forearms apparently. Doing challenges takes so much effort and focus, I have been skipping the treadmill... I shouldn't do that. Deffinitely something to work on... endorphins are a good thing.

Gym routine: 5 mile jog, free weights, abdominal exercises, 3 times a week. I got a commercial treadmill about a year ago and it helps on the days I don't want to deal with the yahoos at the gym.

Just kind of re started exercising last couple weeks. Trying increase my running managed a longer run of 7 miles yesterday quite pleased with that. Just hope I can continue as mood slipping again.

I'm on a vacation right now, and I took my barbells and my gym ball with me. I have also used them already, just two hours ago I went through a full weight and stretching routine - although I shortened it a bit since it's still very cold in this room and I don't want to risk injury.

Took my fox hound Bodi Boy on a mile walk this morning, taking my basset hound Daisy this afternoon... and I got a date with 40 minutes on the treadmill too. Taking care of pools this week, so no pilates for me... but don't get my third adjustment for the wrist til Thursday anyways. I miss the girl time though.

I'll brag a bit now: I did three full workouts (meaning 1.5 to 2h of weights and stretching) during my 13-day-vacation. I also did a lot of long walks through deep snow and up steep hills.

The result is that my thighs and butt have grown out of one of my pants. I'm not happy about this, not at all. But maybe I'll fit again, once those fat pads on the insides of my thighs go away. Here's to hoping ô.o

I can see some definite progress since my first workout with weights on Jan. 17th of this year. I've done 10 sessions so far; the first three to four were used to find out how much weight I can move in each exercise and at how many repetitions I want to put the break-off for weight increase (I started with 12 but increased it to 15 while reducing the number of sets from 3 to 2 after reading up on the research). I also found out that my muscles need at least 2, better 3 to 4 days of rest in between workouts, which makes me feel like a lazy ass bitch, but right now the results seem to speak for themselves. Maybe I can reduce the length of the resting period once my body gets used to the whole muscle building stuff.

Stretching isn't going that well right now. My tendons are a bit crabby, especially in the left leg, inner thigh, which might have to do with the cold weather. But I'm staying at it while practicing patience.

What about you alls?
