Does Anyone Know How To Escape Abuse?

Just wondering if anyone and their children who have escaped emotional abuse could share how or where you found some support, guidance or resources to help in doing so.

Goingonhope-do you have a T? that is where to start. There are local shelters for domesitc violence that can help you too. Emotional abuse may be the worst-you cant see the scars and others are less apt to identify it. Further, its easier to question ourselves about if it is really happening or if "we did something" or caused it. DO NOT second guess yourself. Please contact me personally if you would like to talk more personally.

][/QUOTE] - been wondering that a lot lately.
NHS Mental Health Services for PTSD, next day delivery!
- Cracked me up that Cat.
Mine would go something like this:
'PTSD - A guide for NHS staff - a 1 million page booklet.'
'Is PTSD the same as depression and ME?' (I was diagnosed as 'depression & ME for 25 years before I had to pay for a correct diagnosis)
'When your family think you are just Neurotic'
'Anger? I AM NOT angry!! How DARE you even THINK I am angry!!'
'How to find a therapist on the NHS ' and 'Do therapists exist in the UK.'
'CBT is the answer to all your problems.'
'How to not run away from, scream at, punch or cry incessantly at your boss.'
'You don't need friends, PTSD is all you will ever need.' Followed by 'Why PTSD lies to you.'

For the first part, move to Shropshire. For the second part, yes they exist, mine is brilliant - a trauma therapist, well trained in EMDR.

KP, if you don't mind me asking - do you have to pay for private treatment? I have screamed for help from the NHS for 27 years but all they do is offer me CBT (I've done 4 group therapy courses). I was give 6 weeks with a girl who did 'listening' and CBT who also said she couldn't help me with the PTSD! There has bee no one and I don't have any money to pay someone.

(Mods - sorry to answer this here, I'm new and not sure where to put it - feel free to move or delete as appropriate).
