Losing My Religion

Wow, if there was one here i'd go. Have you seen the you tube skit on Ricky Jervis "the bible "... good fun. He also had the nice experience of Sunday school I did and decided it was all a crock when he grew up. He studied philosophy and didn't actually get anywhere in comedy until he was 40.. great skit to watch.

I grew up as an agnostic, and now I'm an interspiritual minister. A whole lot of that is helping people f...
Yep I listen to the Dalai Lama. The reincarnation and karma isn't my thing but the rest Is all rather beautiful and makes sense. Best of all is the duty to your own happiness. I remember when I first heard it I was shocked, as duty to be happy had never dawned on me as a spiritual quest and the importance of it. He explains in detail and it makes complete sense. I bought a few of his books on iTunes. It brings me inner peace and helps me think about things in a better way than my upbringing gave me. I am by no.means a bushidst but the meditations cause me calm. I also totally love the view on suffering of creatures and humanity being defined by our compassion

I used Dog instead of God and then I felt calm. The patriarchal authoritarian language of their male, hum...
DOG Appeals to my playful view of the world and my strong connection with dogs and nature. The purity of love and the living in the "now" of a dogs essence. Their deep connection and companionship without judgement, without the ability to totally pervert my sanity, dogs just are better! It helps me soothe my rage and rebellion, whole honoring who I am. It's not a joke I use it when I really need to calm down. But I have equally found recently that the mantra "breath in breath out" repeated loud in my head whilst I breath into my stomach is even more effective.

@Skitzii

Welcome to freedom.
At least 5 billion humans on this planet have not accomplished what you have done.
You have wrestled free of delusion...a web of fallacy, deception and control.
Most never will.

All religion was created by males to exert control over the minds of others and you have overcome it....well done!
Now you are free to choose, to question, to relax, to grow...it is a wonderful journey.

What have you explored so far?

Hey!! <3 thank you!! I honestly have this deep desire to drop everything and start again in a brand new country employed by my talents but I'm not quite mentally there ;) so far though, I dropped abstinence(and had my experimental stage), realized that I did not lose my identity when I stopped believing in God, dropped a lot of anxiety and tension, expanded my mind, dropped a type of domestic slavery, kept that special 10% of my income that usually goes to the church and have started to make friends that act like real people. Lol. Though it did take a minute for Christians to stop treating me like a zoo exhibit. And for my head to stop spinning. All in a year <3

@void Did you used to be religious?

@void how long since you figured it out?

I was raised in a cult.
Everyone I knew was in it.
I unwound all of the delusion alone.
They all shunned me...I am an outcast.
and I do not give a flying FVCK:giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:!!!!

I'm free!!!!
free of the lies, the hate, the arrogance sanctimonious self-righteous religiotards!!!
It is all so wonderfully clear...the control, the deception.
None of it can stand in the face of a self-examined life.
Critical thinking is rare on our Cursed Earth, but where it is liberty thrives.

@Skitzii

couple of decades

was a gradual and VERY difficult process...very painful

having your entire paradigm overturned and losing every single person in your life is not for the weak

almost everyone who begins this process can't take the pressure and self-deceive to return to stability and compliance/conformity

you need to know that your strength is rare.

i hope you get that you pulled of something that requires world class courage.

so what is next for you?

:):):):):):):):):)

You're lovely!! I really appreciate your encouragement. Most people just treat me like I'm weird!! Couple of decades?? I love how much you still value your freedom <3 I look forward to always being greatful. Religion is a form of slavery after all. It's hard not to be greatful when you gain a freedom like that back.

I'm sincerely thinking about saving up until tax time to crash in Jamaica for a couple of months. Lol. Maybe even until I get deported. This absense of fear things has me feeling very confident about life. If it's a bad decision for me, hopefully I'll realize it within the next 6 months. Lol. I'm already excersising my freedom to smoke weed now and again and meeting my sexual needs within reason. I'm sure it would carry over over seas!!
How about you??
