Lucy And Ethyl's Cross Country Road Trip

Here are some pics of the volcanic activity at Yellowstone. When people think of geysers, Old Faithful comes to mind; but we watched at least 30 erupt. They are all different and it is absolutely amazing. The colors, the size, the bubbling, spouting, spiting water that just comes out of the earth. Too many steam vents to count, but it is just simply mind boggling the diversity in nature. Here are a few pics, but they do not begin to capture the beauty and power that is the Earth.

Yesterday evening, and today, primarily involved driving through the state of Wyoming. Wyoming is a beautiful state, and it is impossible to explain all of the different types of scenery, so I just have a sequence of what we saw out of the car window. Today started in the sunshine, went through snow, back into sunshine, and ended up in the rain.

There is a highway here we have named after the ACDC song "Highway to Hell", since it started out so beautifully and then put us at the top of the world, with hair pin turns, six inches of snow on either side, and patches of ice on the road. :devilish:

Ethyl did a great job driving through the mountains and didn't seem to mind my gasps, death grip on the dash, or occasional "bad words". This is pretty much what I looked like at the higher elevations..... (So cold I was blue!)

Well on to the pics,,,,,

A big part of this trip we have spent looking for all the abundant wildlife. As some of the pictures have shown we have found a few animals. Today was spent looking and looking for elk and deer that are suppose to be so abundant. We did pass a couple herds of elk and am sorry to say we were not able to get a good shot of them. Then we went to Devils Tower and one of the popular animals there is the Prairie Dog. This little guy is so cute.....

As we were heading out of the Devils Tower area, back on the "Highway to Hell", we were a bit disappointed that we hadn't gotten a picture of deer or elk yet. I was driving and coming up on a curve and a small hill. All the sudden Lucy is frantically telling me to "slow down, slow down". I thought maybe I was going too fast and scaring her (again)...don't you see it she says as she frantically tries to get the camera out...just over the hill....a deer is in the road! So I slow down and we come up over the rise and there is Lucy's deer. The ever illusive critter we had been searching for all day...and we got a shot of it....
Wyoming Deer.webp Yep...Lucy's deer she thought I was going to run over .... is.... a mail box. OMG...we laughed so hard.

That is our wildlife for today. The Wyoming Deer remain illusive.....and Lucy....well....I thought I was the one who couldn't see!

I'm late to this - missed the entire thread as have not been around much. Fabulous photos Lucy and Ethyl - they look like professional ones. You have truly captured a lot of beauty while sharing a lot here on the forum. Not just the photos but your effervescent sense of adventure and humor.

Thank you for sharing and may this not only be "a leg of your PTSD journey" but a healing and memorable trip. Have a great safe trip. I'll make sure to check here next time I am on.

It's a fabulous thread!
