Thanks Sammy!!!

I have to admit, I am a little bit nervous now when I hear voices outside my window. I worry that the shooter will come back into the neighborhood at some point, but I am trying to be positive and not think that way. The guy was shot, he survived, and I hope and pray that is the end of the story.

I appreciate your support

LH

Lionheart, I don't live in the city but close enough to where it's on the news all the time so my heart really goes out to you. Every time I hear heated arguments I head out the door, yikes. I can just imagine how shocking that must have been for you and I'm grateful you were not hit by a stray bullet! With all the semi-automatics and what have yous out there, (grenade launcher online??) a bystander checking out what all the noise is about has to wear body armor these day.

LH, who wouldn't be flustered being asked about how they felt after being witness to something like that?? I'm proud of you for having said something because I think it's important to continue to speak up and let people know there are ears and eyes watching out for our children and those that can't watch out for themselves, so good on you.

peace and continued protection,
Rain

(((Rain))))

Thank you so much for your understanding and support!!! It is a little bit difficult to enjoy the peace and quiet of the neighborhood now, as I keep waiting to hear more commotion and possible gunfire. This has been such a peaceful area to live in, at least it was, up until the shooting.

As it turns out the victim is the same age as my daughter, so I am happy that I spoke up about what I witnessed. There are not many things that I actually hate, but I do hate violence!!! I wish the world and it's people could learn to live in peace without having to resort to violence.

I'm with you on that. I watched a bit of a programme last night on TV. CCTV images of rioters are being shown to try and identify looters and rioeter. It was so ugly. Police officers said they had never experienced riots like that where it was so ugly and evil, the rioting scum were out to hurt an cause damage for the sake of it.

It totally sickened me that human beings can do that and worse to one another.

It isn't often that I hear that expressed. I live in this boring suburb now and I wouldn't say that I miss the sounds of gunfire, sirens, and fighting but I will say that I am not used to this weird silence. It is deafening. At least I can still hear the subway and see my old neighborhood from my window. When my cousin first left our neighborhood for college, he taped a few hours of street chaos so he could listen to it and fall asleep faster.

Silence makes me feel like someone is up to something, being sneaky or plotting my demise.

hahahaha, I guess I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop so-to-speak. I agree that too much silence is a little unnerving and takes much getting used to, but I will opt for the silence over the gunfire and sirens any day. :) Thanks for the idea of taping the sirens and sounds, because this might come in handy since I am moving out of the city to a more rural neighborhood in the next month or so.

I live in a ruralish area and it is 'safe' very little crime. There is noise, it is just different, bird song can be bloody loud, owls, foxes and there will always be occassional cars. I love it. It does mean that sirens when we do hear them are out of the norm and for me triggering.

Dear Lionheart,

I am glad that you are safe and the interview is now over for you. I am sorry, I did not see it, but TV in and of itself is triggering for me. I applaud you for helping the person who was shot and being willing to speak out. That was definitely a brave thing to do. Please do not be embarrassed about where you are from or how people can tell. It is a special place because YOU live there. I feel honored "to know" someone who is willing to stand up and literally speak out to gun violence.

Take care!
