Was I selfish when I wanted someone to notice that something was wrong and just talk and listen to me for once? I often feel like I was and that need to be punished for it.

I feel the same way but learned to accept how insignificant my life is and most people are too caught up in their own lives to care about me.

There's no right answer as to think it's selfish or not and I can assure you that you don't deserve anymore punishment than what you endured. I was hoping someone would say this to me but then again I can relate to how cruel and uncaring most of the world is.

Also the 'clues' you left definitely aren't obvious enough cause unless it's been said directly, some people don't suspect anything different.
The knife and lines drawn viewed from the eyes of high schoolers are most likely seen as play as most of them haven't started taking life seriously yet.
