Men whose image of themselves falls short of the traditional masculine gender norms, and who feel that others think this about them too, may be more prone to violence than men who feel comfortable in their own skin, suggests research. Dead Link Removed
There is pressure on some guys to prove masculinity, indeed. But I wonder if it's less a factor of self-perceived masculinity and more of a self acceptance/ self esteem issue though. The men who I perceive as very masculine in non bullshit nonshowoff way are not really risk takers. I definitely identify as masculine but I am risk adverse and cautious..except for driving lol..not a scientific observation but my feeling which would be scientifically considered hypothetical.
Hola @LuckyDuck that's the trouble that gets to me about those articles..I like the data too. I wish they would post more references to the primary articles...cuz I smell jet fuel lol
Interesting. I've oftentimes wondered about the other side, females who struggle with falling short of feminine norms. (Personal struggle of mine, maybe I'll make my own post to see if others struggle.)
