I find all this hero worship mightily odd. The promotion of these people to media sainthood is beyond my ken. They're just people. Diana took a string of lovers and brought a bit of new blood into the saxe-coburg gothas (which is traditional at least, given the queens offspring). All funded by me as a UK tax payer. Thanks!

Jackson bought his way off the paedophile charges.

I find it difficult to see why these people are worth the emotion people seem to want to invest in them.:dontknow:

Personally however, his passing does not mean I wish to listen to his songs all day long on the radio stations.

I was really surprised to see this post here. The man was a sexual predator who preyed on children and used his money and influence to buy off when he was caught. Gee...how many times was he accused and got off scott free? Lots of money, I guess, covers a multitude of sins. Too bad this didn't happen while he was in jail for his crimes against children.

Irton: I agree with you here. I find it weird too. I didn't know any of these people. I knew of them but they weren't my friends or family. I never understood the Princess Diana thing at all. I felt like a total outsider with that when the whole country went doolally.

As for Michael Jackson child abuse charges, whether he did or didn't isn't really the point. He's dead now and I feel sympathy for his family, particularly his children. He was a musical talent however you look at it.

I don't know, Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dead now. Just makes me feel old and like time is running out.

I think Michael might not have sexually abused the kiddies.....but certainly his boundaries were inappropriate.

I do have every sympathy for families and freinds. Its the grief of people who never met him i don't get. I suppose its similar to when Stalin died. Many russians genuinely loved the butcher! Is it the power of good propaganda/advertising? Or is a bit of a tune so very powerful?

I suppose I will be a tad upset when the New Model Army split/die, and I was genuinely saddened by the deaths of John Peel and Spike Milligan, but not to the extent that we have had in the media all day. However, if either had been in the mire over kiddie fiddling I would have felt less saddened.


Oh! And I still haven't forgiven America for killing John Lennon and not Paul McCartney. Can't figure that out to save my life!

For all those non brits here, the Diana thing is just absolutely mental. We still have her in the news papers all the bloody time! Dead and cold in the ground these twelve years yet the vultures ain't full yet! One daily rag, the "Daily Express" is laughingly referred to as the "Daily Diana" because of its bizarre fixation on our sainted royal corpse.

Frankly, its all very, very creepy.

I could go on and mention how Princes Andy Chuck and Mary look nothing like each other and are the most dissimilar looking brothers I have ever seen apart form a family of seven at our school who were all out of the same mother but they only had uncles and not daddys.
I'll probably get my head cut off as a traitor for that one.

It's sad to me that Michael Jackson never got the help he needed for his demons.
I DO have a problem with the fact that he was charged with sexual abuse of children-- that he lured them in and then abused them-- when that happened I stopped listening to his music. It really bothers me when celebrities do these horrible things and are still glamourized by the media. Yes he was talented, but he also hurt innocent children who may have scars forever.
There were several other sexual abuse cases where he was acused but not charged or proven.

I am just not surprised that his life ended very quickly and still with such controversey surrounding it. It's sad that someone with so much talent and such potential in life didn't get the help they needed.- He could have had the best help that money could buy. I hope he is in peace now. And i hope the children that he hurt are not suffering by all the media blitz out there.

At least here in the USA, we can finally stop listenening about the drama from the Governor of South Carolina now!

I kind of wonder if this is the "Where were you when you heard Elvis died?" for this generation. I was not a fan, but I can certainly acknowledge that Michael Jackson had a major impact on the music world.

Our receptionist at work called me as soon as it happened. As in, "Ohmigosh 7 seconds ago TMZ reported that Michael Jackson is DEAD!!!!!!!!" (that's the paraphrased version). Yesterday I suggested that perhaps I should buy a pair of white gloves and we could each wear one to work today...she didn't catch that I was being facetious, lol. Today she had his music on all day. Not my thing, but then again I can't imagine being really upset over any celebrity.

hey they got the tribute show on now..i must admit...im enjoying hearing so many good tunes again...alot of his early stuff really rocked......my 11yr is like wow mum...he was really good singer and dancer hey.....then i did some moonwalking moves and she is like...omg mum you moonwalk......:thumbs-up

gosh talk about time zoning hearing these songs.................i told me daughter about how his face was really burnt years ago..that started all the plastic surgery.....she like wow.....
