Missing Out On Thanksgiving Due To PTSD

*sigh* Thanksgiving is at a relative's in Boston this year, and I can't face the idea of driving that far on the highway, (car accident on the highway caused PTSD) let alone driving in Boston. This is year two that I'll miss seeing family for Thanksgiving. Has anyone else had their plans affected by PTSD?

My husband and I went to his brother's house for Thanksgiving -- we were able to walk there, so I wasn't apprehensive about going in a car, much less driving. (I have agoraphobia in addition to ptsd.) I was so preoccupied with not having a panic attack and crying that I really didn't enjoy anything. My in-laws know I have mental issues but don't know the depth of the problem; however, they were kind and asked after me while I was there. It wasn't much of a Thanksgiving. Maybe next year will be better. I just want to get through the holidays without breaking down.

Everyday plans were affected while in the throes of PTSD, but now things are certainly better for me. But, yes, I understand where you are coming from....

BTW, my PTSD isn't from a car accident, but I sure as hell would NOT be driving in Boston, either way. Talk about anxiety provoking driving in that city... NO THANKS!!!!!!!! I hate even being a passenger and driving in Boston......
