Sufferer Misunderstood Around Civilian Coworkers

I completely understand why they are concerned. But maybe talking to me about it would have been more appropriate then blind siding me. At least one person there understands. He was in the infantry in the marines. He's speaking out for me.

I'm glad you have a friend in the trenches and I agree with you that it would have been better had they spoken to you up front. But they probably have a standard policy from which they will not deviate. Legally, I think you'll be wise to lawyer-up but I hope you won't be needing one.

I wish you all the best.

I am glad that you are going to speak to an attorney so as not to be railroaded. I have an EMT friend and her sense of humor is sometimes dark as well. Sometimes it's triggering for my PTSD but I know it is her way of making it through what she sees/experiences on a daily basis. She was also Army and served through 3 deployments.

I hope that you speak to your lawyer soon and that everything can be resolved easily and quickly once they have figured out that you were not making serious threats against your workplace.

Hey Nathan, I have been dealing with PTSD for the same amount of time 12 years. I too have a sense of humor that is kind of strange, I believe that in my case I laugh at the bad things to cope with them in a way.

I don't talk about my condition to many people as they do not and cannot understand the way I think. I have made comments that were sort of off the cuff in regular conversation so I do understand your problem. The questions begin to stack up in the minds of others and befor you know it all hells breaking loose for nothing.

I was talking to a guy on my street, the subject of civil war breaking out in the US became the topic. He told me that he had some food stached along with a few other things. My comment was that I had already desided that if things went bad I was going to eat the guy across the street from my house. He looked at me funny and said what, I said have you noticed his chicken leggs and started to laugh. Well lets just say I heard about it later, I still think it was funny and he does have chicken leggs.

I wish you luck, remember be careful and welcome to the forum, Legend

UPDATE:

Well.....I was terminated. And I will most likely be unhirable once future employers question the circumstances in which I was seperated. The unemployement office is giving me a hard time do to what happened. My only hope is that the social security office will come through or the VA will send me to college so I can hopefully learn a new set of skills. I was wrong before, now I am at rock bottom. Anyone hiring?

I am sorry this happened. I know what it is like to lose your job. Turning the tables slightly, it did help me in my recovery as I wasn't aware the stress my job put me under.

I class myself as lucky as my Hubby works full time. Eventually I found a job I love. I only work 10 hours each week with maybe about 15 hours overtime per month.
Well.....I was terminated
Don't you just love the terminology for losing your job. Terminated, nice, like what you do do bugs. In my last job, I was assimilated. Yep, the workforce wandered around for weeks like Borg clones (I'm a Star Trek nut for my sins.)

Thank you all for the support. I could use it after today. A lawyer advised that there is no precidence relating employment issues to PTSD and that no one will advocate for me. I can't even get social security disabilty. Time to make an ABC run.
