How To Avoid Telling Coworkers About Your Ptsd

Wow Bubzilla, just wanted to say, as someone who has recently been an in-patient in a hospital (though in a different context to the area in which you are working of course...), having good and sensitive and committed and positively assertive nursing staff who give a damn about the human beings inside the bodies, means an awful awful lot! I shivered with equal parts disgust and awe as I read your account. That woman sounds revolting, yet sadly, probably not uncommon of what is somehow tolerated in the industry thesedays. More power to you for not only sticking to your guns, but firing a few of them as well. You are a credit to your profession!

Thanks guys, your support is really touching.
I like each of my residents, and I try to add a personal touch each time I deal with them, especially those with dementia.

Maddog, unfortunately, I have dealt with many, many nurses/carers who are like this woman, except this time I have finally cracked the shits and said that enough is enough.

And honestly, the entire shift was much much more of that behaviour, I just CBF typing it up.
My shoulder is still sore, it's making the side of my neck and head ache, as well as all down the arm, so it will probably be another 2 days before it settles down.
I did accept another shift for this afternoon, but it's 0918hrs here, so I'm going to call up and let them know that I'm too sore to work so soon.

Another thing, I've spent a lot of time working with animals, especially ones that have been badly treated, and for me, it is a little the same in aged care, for a few seconds that I get to interact with you, the client, I want to make you feel special and worthy, and brighten up your day a little, because I personally know how crap it is to be stuck in your room alone, thinking that no one cares.

If I can make ONE person, who is known to be non compliant, smile and feel a little better, then I am a happy woman.

And mind you, despite all of that shit, I DID manage to do that, there was a Slavic lady who, from what I have observed, has dementia and a form of Parkinson's, and just by taking a little care with her whilst helping her eat, and being gentle and patient when showering her, I copped a kiss on the cheek and a very very grateful look.

Those my darling friends on here, are the moments I want to live and work for.

i wish it was that easy in nursing.:(
It's crazy that it isn't that easy. It's NURSING. You guys deal with people who are living with all sorts of problems.

There are lots of people like that woman in the nursing and carers profession. Lots of predators as well. Surrounded by vulnerable people, it's like they are in Wonderland.

I recently had an incident where I was verbally attacked and had slanderous lies spread about me by a so called nurse. Some of them have no business being in that profession. They need to be weeded out.
