Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't really understand why you cant just ignore something that might trigger you.
Just because a movie trailer appears on your facebook feed, you don't have to watch the trailer.
I don't really see whether it matters if you think the book and or film is good, bad, dreadful, unrealistic, whatever. If it triggers you, just avoid it.
The only time I can see that being difficult is if you are going to watch another movie, and it comes up as a trailer, since you don't have the option to change the channel. So, just don't go to the cinema for a few months.
It's certainly not going to be in the headlines for 8 months. Probably more likely a few weeks here and there leading up to it's release and a couple of weeks once it's released and the critics get hold of it.
Honestly my feeling is that if a movie release is your biggest issue, then you don't have too much to worry about.
