Mr Laurie In The News...

Status

Laurie has often posted his full (real) name, contact info, and real photo to this site.

In his case, there's no confidentiality breached.

Had that info been kept private by the member (any piece of it), and another member posted about it, based on private information they received off-site via email, etc. - I'd believe it should be taken down.

In other words: if you post your real name here openly and willingly (not by accident, requesting that we take it down) and you post multiple photos of yourself (that's your choice) and your Facebook account/skype name/phone number (which we edit out when we find it, but unless reported, we don't always catch it right away) - then you've established what your own confidentiality parameters are.

By the same token, if you have posted a personal photo, say, but never given more than your last name - and someone searches out your identity and posts it - we'd consider that to be inappropriate.

I hope that clears up concerns.

To be honest, Laurie is the only member here that has ever given out all of his personal info freely. Not just on PM or chat, but the whole site.

So, I don't expect there to be a repeat of this incident.

Mr Laurie has also copied and posted his threats/intimidations of his ex and his ex's Mother in chat as well - he made public the comments and abuse that he had previously posted on Facebook. It is alarming that he is supported in his behaviours.

When does the time come when people stop pandering to someone who has by their own admission has untreated Borderline Personality Disorder?

No woman would have got away with posting such content about an ex male partner for such long periods of time because we are not allowed to say men are violent as we have skewed perceptions due to our "pasts" - that has always got jumped on pretty quickly. And this has enabled Mr Laurie's behaviours.

Fanning someone's desperate need for attention through doing things like this is not the best thing to do for Mr Laurie in my opinion.

He is banned for Christ's sakes! When will members stop posting content/comments from banned members - there was one member posting on behalf of another banned member saying Joeylittle was being sexist for one of the men being banned. Like seriously do people have no insight of manipulative members winding you up so you become the messenger? How can members be so naive?

He is barred for seeing his children for life - you have to do something pretty serious for that to come into play. But despite his behaviours people keep co dependently telling him he is a good Father. For Christ's sake when is this crap going to end? Enabling these types of behaviours is not only dangerous for the ex and the kids - it is also dangerous for Mr Laurie because he acts out more and more stuff.

I know you meant well @Stickler - but this is just not on.

Mr Laurie is not a victim of the system. He has victimised others and until he is honest about this and takes responsibility for his behaviours he will never improve.

We lost a few good members because of Mr Laurie acting out his shit in chat, and abusing anyone who stood up to him. I must say I almost left as well.

This is nauseating and sycophantic.

Many thanks for posting

I'm glad that the teenagers stopped and helped him.
Here's hoping that his health improves

Anon,
I'm not sure that shunning someone helps them to control their triggered states.

Laurie has been very open about the problems which he has, including his time as an alcofrolic. I'm glad to learn that he is ok after another worrying seizure.

I look forward to engaging with him when he returns to the site - and he is in his usual grounded state. I also look forward to finally meeting up with him.

I have no way of knowing whether this is the case with anyone on here - but bear in mind that the British army used diagnoses of borderline personality as a way to get rid of people who have PTSD without fulfilling their duties and responsibilities towards those people.

Several none military people who I know here have also been diagnosed with BPD, only to have that diagnosis disagreed with later and PTSD identified instead.
Triggered states in PTSD in some individuals can look like BPD, but that is not their personality, they are not like that all of the time, it can be a state rather than a trait.

Being new to this site, I'm stunned that you would reveal someones identity.

Since Mr Laurie is banned, he cannot state his consent for having his identity published here today.
Therefor this is clearly a breach of privacy laws.

The question of @Mr Laurie's identity and privacy was addressed by @joeylittle in that the member revealed his personal identity repeatedly on the site so the information now provided doesn't breach his confidentiality because it's nothing he hasn't shared before.

I'm going to ask that responses to the thread remain focussed on the incident that's reported in the OP. There may be wider questions about whether we should be accepting postings about a banned member, privacy on the site, whether it's possible for community to enable inappropriate behaviour etc but I think they belong elsewhere on the forum.

Specifically I'm uncomfortable with discussions about a banned member's behaviour being inappropriate, symptomatic etc when they aren't able to take part in that discussion. I appreciate this member's way of being can be quite polarising in the community, but let's try and keep this thread on topic.

The member is not a member of the British forces, nor ever was a member beyond recruit training. So please do not post nonsense.
Therefor this is clearly a breach of privacy laws.
The member posted their own information, publicly, many many times here... so it is not a privacy breach. Report such matters, not perpetuate nonsense please.

Speaking from personal experience with seizures one day.

Let's remember the teenagers who stopped, stayed and helped. When I briefly woke-up I was surrounded by people in grocery store parking lot. Mostly adults. Only "one" person out of "several dozens" was there supporting me. Others just stared....

Stranger stayed with me, telling me what happen, ambulance was on it's way, had me in correct position to cause least harm, tried to calm me down, and stayed until ambulance arrived. While everyone else just stared.

For others who witness home treatment for seizures - you could save a life. http://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/tc/seizures-home-treatment

Great to read about kids following correct procedure and that Mr Laurie is fine.

Mr Laurie was never in danger of swallowing his tongue.....this is a myth, taught to me in basic training as a carer. It genuinely is impossible to do.

I would hate for anyone to read this who suffers fits, and cause undue worry to them.....including Mr Laurie.

Edit
I'm actually Damn angry that such a stupid....yes, stupid! Statement was published in a newspaper...we all know that many people believe what they read. I would like to believe that anyone with even a minimum of very basic first aid training would know this not to be true......obviously not!
