I am much happier now,met a new guy in my life and he is a real man.Treats me right and we met 3 weeks ago.His name is Alex and met him through a cousin of mine.Alex is an amazing guy and he has change my life around since we started dating on June 5th.We both have a lot of things in common, love Chevrolet Chevelles, both have a great sense of humor and fans of Nascar driver Kevin Harvick.Have a few more.Plans are to meet his family on Saturday including his 16 year old daughter Leah from a previous marriage.Have spoken to Leah on the phone last night, looks like we are going to get along and is looking towards meeting me for the first time.

Hating to be the Little Blue Bird of Happiness... But something to be aware of is that new relationships are often so distracting that there's a temporary lull of PTSD symptoms.

There's also a bit of a tendency in a lot of us to rush into things. Maybe to keep raising the level of distraction to keep that lull going? Keep upping and upping the intensity level to meet the added stresses to neutralize it? IDK. First blush of new love / new lust / infatuation is one of those super powerful things. It does wear off, though. And symptoms come back to right where they were before we got all distractified & twitterpated.

As someone who has made a lot of -big- mistakes in that time period? Assigning suddenly feeling better to how wonderful someone else is, for example, instead of my symptoms backing off? Just felt the need to issue a word of caution. It's early days, yet.

He knows I have PTSD and knows he has to watch what to say around me.Has been showing his support of me in this recovery process.Alex says it's cool I served, seen my United States Marines flag and told him I served 8 years in the Marines

Well put. I would add I do not see any commonalities in areas that matter. Like the same car? Like the same race car driver? That is not a basis for a relationship imho. OTH, I have sworn off men and not had a date in about 10 years. Very happy to keep it this way. So my opinion may not matter.

First, THANK YOU for your service in the Marines for 8 years! Wow! From what I understand, the Marine Core is the most difficult branches of service. I am very grateful that you served our country!

I am offering you Congratulations as well! It sounds like you may have met one of the good guys! :inlove:You sound pretty intuitive, too, which I think being in the service would have enhanced. Trusting your instincts is the best way to go! Hope is vital!

Blessings and (((Hugs))) being sent your way!
