My Combat Vet Feels He Deserves Phyiscal Pain

Mine is so angry because he can't go to those places anymore. He is 62 and I remember about 3 years ago when he was upset about his vision, which seems absolutely perfect to me, but maybe not for what he was doing. He mentioned something about not being about to do it anymore last night. Kat

David is only 44 years old so he can still move, is fit and can still keep up with guys much younger than him but I can see that if he's lucky enough to reach his 60's he might be disappointed that he can't do as much as he used to do.

I hope this gets better soon, he's gone for his meditative walk now but sometimes when he gets back he's actually worse. So much for meditation!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Yah it's from gulf war. I'm still not entirely comfortable talking or even typing alot of it.

My family is 100% convenced that the only reason for any of my problems is the physical pain. I quit trying to convence otherwise makes no difference anyway.

Allen, Sounds to me like you don't have a supportive family, so guess what WE will be your new family! How's that???

Your family and tons of other people don't understand how the mind affects the body. Take the placebo effect for example...if a person thinks the sugar pill is a highly potent new drug it often works just as effectively as if it had been, in fact, a highly potent new drug! So if your mind is in pain the body responds according. And also, every cell in the body has a memory of its own, so every cell in your body "remembering" both the physical trauma you went through and the mental.

And also if you were to have a scan done on your brain to register heat, more portions of a brain effected with PTSD will show bright red, than you will find in a brain of a person who does not suffer from the..I hate to use the word disorder - so than you would find in nontraumatized person.
