One of the most important things that my counsellor regularly reminds is to break things down into smaller bits. I get overwhelmed so very easily when I look at 'whole' and it all feels impossible. If I break things down and try and do even only the very smallest things, then I feel a bit more like I am taking control.
So rather than go with 'life just feels impossible', I'd try to break that down. Look at the different areas of your life and for now just focus on one or two small things that you can do. You don't have to, and probably won't be able to, change it all at once. Small steps still get you there and you're less likely to trip and fall along the way.
