Death My Mom Is Dying

Hi @She Cat

My mom has surprised doctors, nurses, and family alike and is holding her own against the COPD. We were called in, asked to sign a DNR and grieved her passing .....however, she rebounded and surprised us all.

She is aspirating her food and I suspect this may have been the cause of her exacerbation that landed her in the hospital. She is on a thick liquid diet, everything must be pureed to keep her food going down the right way.

Still, although we are grieving the fact that she will eventually pass on, we are taking comfort that she seems to be doing really well at this time and we are thankful for another day with her.

She is under hospice care and we are discussing the possibility of bringing her home from the nursing facility if we can properly care for her.

As for me, I am dealing with it all the best I know how and that is just to make the best of it and enjoy each moment with her. Thank you for asking about us.

Much love and light,
Lion

Hi @She Cat :)

My mother has not had an exacerbation of COPD since she was transferred to the nursing home and began being treated by hospice care. Last I talked to her she was getting dressed to go play bingo  She is getting out and socializing and wants to come home.

We are all shocked and pleasantly surprised at her recovery.:wideeyed::wideeyed::wideeyed:

We thought she was dying for sure :dead: the last time she was in the hospital so, we are just beside ourselves with wonder and amazement. We are so grateful to have more time with our mother to show our love and to let her know we will be ok when she is gone.

Mom says that she died on the ambulance ride to the hospital during the first trip. I do not doubt it as she was cyanotic :coldfeet: and not breathing.

Anyways although she could leave us at any time, we are totally grateful to have our mom back and that she is doing so well.

Thank you for asking!!!
