My Motorbike Accident

Hey madjon, I love those old british thumpers. Had a 500 Matchless, took the heal of my cowboy boot starting it, also 350? BSA, 500 triumph and a few nortons.

the old bikes a good way to chill and see where your going, not going full speed everywhere has some benefits, it handles well and is fun to ride, also i can catch myself if i drift off a bit, its more forgiving in handling than a snappy race bike, everybody seems to be going from a to b as fast as possible, ridden a 500 matchless before, nice bike, though it did kick back and send me off the other side!

The old Nortons are nice... the new Nortons are also very nice. I do know, that I am not worried now about fast, but more I love the Agusta styling, quality and build. Riding an Agusta is like riding a Harley... you have a fat the entire time, the power is present if you want it, but the pure riding brilliance the bike delivers under you just makes all your worries disappear whilst upon them.

sounds like you have found a good bike for you, everybody has their own ideals in a machine and what they like about them, what you can hope for is finding the one which you are after, sounds like you have found what you are after which is good, ive played with jap bikes and im too slow to react now, have a norvin sprint racer in the workshop which my old dad used to ride in races, hes 70 and rebuilding it to go racing! im too slow in reactions now to do it, had a few high speed adventures of me own though, im alive so the god of the road must have liked me, o to shit yer pants in 6 seconds, or about 180hp and way too fast down the motorway, cant handle speed now, i prefer a slower pace of life, being alive and getting there seems to be me nowadays, currently rebuilding bike and have no transport,which is a bummer, but should be finished for summer:smoking:

Ohhh... I love the old bikes restored. I like slow and get their also actually, just love the Agusta, even though it has a shitload of power, I am with you, in that I don't have the reactions like I used too at 20... I think PTSD has a lot to do with it actually.

Not to Many people would know what a NorVin is. It was a long time before anything came close to what those old beasts could do. The featherbed frame is still considered one of the best handling tube frames and it's over 50 years old, and you just got to love that old Vincent Motor. The one Bike I dream of getting my hands on is a Brough Superior with the JAP motor. I also love horse power even tho I just cruise around it's nice to be able to melt the rear tire if you need to or pass that line of cars with just a little twist of the wrist.

my (older) brother got himself the "New Triumph Bonneville" when they started making them again in 2001

that's all it took to give me the bug again
but i consider riding in town nothing short of urban combat!
all senses on red alert
hell, i'm hyper vigilant anyway thanks to PTSD
do any other riders feel like the 2 kinda go together?

it's a hoot to make the British Motorcycle Rally each year and see the old farts like us get out...

Hey rocky. Mate, I know what you mean about them going together... and yes, I think they do also. I see riding in cities and so forth also stupid... hence why I haven't got my new bike, as I won't ride bikes in cities, because drivers are nuts enough already, many of which can't even look to see another car, let alone a motorcycle. Once moved out of the city, I will focus more on getting my Agusta.

By the way, some very fine pieces of machinery you have their mate... The old bikes might go slow, but geez they do it in style.

Yeah, Rocky....I really feel like the hypervigilance helps tremendously while riding! After all, almost all tin-box drivers who are involved in accidents w/cycles say they never saw the bike! So, if we can be alert to them, we can avoid their stupidity.

Exactly Kim... people wonder why riders only ride short distance, and are often so worn out afterwards. Its not the riding that wears us out, its the constant state of alertness looking in all angles for the dickheads not paying attention.
