I've been actively, but gently pushing my sister about this visit for the past few weeks. We have our guest room entirely set up. We went ahead and renovated our bathroom while we were at it. I just found out that my sister and her ex STILL have not bought plane tickets for my niece. My sister says my niece asks about the visit daily. My three year old son asks about the visit daily. My sister says they haven't bought the tickets because she and her ex are not talking "except for chat windows" and neither of them are sure who is paying for the tickets. The tickets would have cost $100 less if they had booked them last month.
They will now cost $800 if they fly her straight here and back. We offered to drive to a bigger airport three hours away to save them $300. No answer. I offered to look up some flights for my sister and send the info to both of them so they didn't have to spend time looking. Sure, she said, I'm home sick today and that would be nice. [I am also sick right now plus I'm disabled and take care of my toddler and a houseful of dogs, but I didn't mention any of that.] I looked up four different flight options, texted them to both of them. No reply from either. No "thank you". No "I'll look at this stuff and let you know". Nothing at all.
This kid only has a three-week window of time where she can go anywhere. They have her and her brother booked solid in camps every Summer because otherwise they would be leaving both of them (11 and 8) home alone all day.
I'm really fed up with people.
