Need A New Muscle Relaxant...what Works For You?

Sounds good @greenleaf ... I can't do major cardio because of some of my other stuff, but I can do good, brisk pace (mostly walking). I walk daily, almost no matter what. It does help with stress and especially crabby or overwhelmed days.

I bought magnesium and will try that again and hope it helps. My back felt better when I woke up so I think spasms are simmering down, but I was really achy already by noon, even with a brace. f*ck.

I've had muscle tension in my neck and shoulders since age 6, maybe earlier, then tension migraines became a problem. I take klonopin, baclofen and mucinex. I have the opposite reaction to some sedating medications so I am alert, but don't remember things well. The baclofen sometimes gives me foot/leg cramps at night. I used to drink apple cider vinegar with water for cramps but it quit working. Now baking soda in water usually stops it so I drink it during the day to head it off at night. I think it helps to stay hydrated. The mucinex helps me sleep but I have to take it 3 or four times a day to get tired and sometimes it gets to be too much.

Thanks @OhSoLittleMouse and @Knak ...my doctor just recently prescribed Baclofen and it does seem to be helping with the spasms. I have gabapentin for nerve pain but it doesn't do anything really once bad spasms set in. I slept better last night and felt a little better through the day (just on day two....and have only taken a couple, though I can go up to 3 a day).

I need to work on better balance and self care and ideally not rely on any one med too much. But for now maybe a little baclofen as needed, gabapentin in small daily doses, and a couple tramadol only on the days the pain has gotten out of control (but hopefully a new muscle relaxant will help things not get to that point). Tramadol numbs me out too much...feel like a robot.

Soma is my absolute GoTo as long as I'm not having anxiety symptoms, particularly the shakes. If I am in an anxiety cycle? Electrocuted Jellyfish. Despite the name... Hilarity did not ensue. :p

As long as I'm doing fairly well, otherwise, though? I get nearly zero side effects. Just spasms go bye bye, along with associated pain.

Like so many things, big fan of empiracle testing, here.

Have you looked into turmeric? Turmeric is very helpful, but it has poor bio availability, so many people think it doesn't work for them because they are taking it wrong. Capsules are a waste of money. you want to added it to already boiling water and boil for 9 minutes. For maximum absorption take with black pepper and a little coconut oil.

I personally add it to homemade chicken bone broth as I find it improves the taste.

@FridayJones I asked my doctor about Soma or Baclofen and she prescribed Baclofen. So far so good, but not getting my hopes up too much. Electrocuted Jellyfish? Story of my life?

@Fadeaway thanks...I do take some turmeric capsules and they seem to help with inflammatory things like headaches a bit. Had not heard it was more potent with cooking, so I might try that. The inflammatory stuff is mostly under control, but it's bad when it does get out of control...
