I have absolutely no scientific evidence to prove what I'm about to say... it was just an "idea" that popped in my mind. When I was rehabbing stroke patients. Part of the speech therapy was "singing" instead of speaking words (to minimize facial paralysis). I knew already that stutters were rehabbed with moderate success "singing" their sentences... that it uses a different part of the brain.
So... I figured, when I set up the challenge, that perhaps some of the benefits of the challenge, might be mood improvement over all, and a sort of cognitive boot camp where I overcome some of my vocal inhibitions with other in stressful situations where I "sing" my conversation.
I have just such an incidence today that is moderately stressful (meeting with a former ENT who I don't feel good about). I'm going to employ the technique... sort of melodically speaking what I want to say... and see what happens to my stress level. If nothing else, it will give me a mindful diversion... and frankly, I don't care what he thinks. If it helps me get through the appointment, it's a win in my book, eh? :O_o:
