Hi Beth, I think the first thing to do is to start seeing how it affects you, secondly being patient with yourself and last and most important develop a strategy to confront it and overcome it.

Hi Beth! I'm new here too. Literally just diagnosed last week though apparently had this to some extent my whole adult life.

Right now I'm mostly reading and thinking, "Huh! So that's why . . .X
Usually makes me do Y!"

This is such an awesome resource. Even though I'm really mostly learning, it's still so great to chat with people who are knowledgeable and empathetic. I'm rather desperate to process what's going on daily and hubby is pretty much barely holding on to his own sanity. :P

Hope you find what you need to heal, here!

One newbie to another - this is a wonderful place, I bet you'll like it! We can tell our story at our own pace in our own way, and find information and inspiration in amazing quantities, not to mention quality...we can connect with and talk to I don't even know how many people from all over the place who GET IT about where we're coming from, where we're at, and where we're trying to get to.

So feel free to yak all you want! Friends are here!

hugs,
shebug

Hi Beth, welcome ! This is a great place with lots of good reading and many awesome trauma survivors who have invaluable wisdom ! Good luck, see you around the forum, cheers, Ron.

Hi Beth! Welcome to this little alcove of understanding. I joined a few years ago, but then went into hiding trying to work on myself with various service providers. The various providers came and went and I was confronted with additional traumas (e.g. people I care about being diagnosed with cancer). During a tough night I gravitated back to the forum. It now looks totally different with lots of new functions and lots of new people. However, the atmosphere remains the same safe place and it feels like I never left. You can usually find people online, regardless of the time of day or night where you live. I hope you find the forum as helpful as I do.

Hi Beth, welcome.

The forum is amazing, the information, support and understanding. With the help and support of members, my family and a wonderful T, I now believe I can take control of my symptoms. I'll never be 'cured' but I can be in control and manage my symptoms. I have made some good friends here from across the world. We have been brought together because of our lives being affected by PTSD, we are no longer struggling on our own.

I look forward to knowing you better. Take your time, there is no rush, baby steps are best.

Take care
KP
