I have a mood disorder and have been struggling a bit this week, especially today. I am tired of dealing with this, am tired of the sadness, am tired of feeling different and in so much emotional pain, and sometimes I just don't feel like being here.

Goodness I am so sorry you're feeling that way. I know that feeling and I bet many people here do too. That might not be much comfort, but you aren't *quite* as alone as you feel. I'm sending a big hug over *if* you want one. I'm glad you called your doctor, and glad you posted here! Is there anything at all you like to do, eat, listen to, write, watch, etc. that you can do for yourself right now? You deserve to feel better!

Stephanie I am so sorry that you are struggling so. I have been there and know it is hard. I too live alone. I am so glad that you both reached out to the dr and here on the forum. I am sitting here with you...you are not completely alone. Hold on and keep fighting.

Well, I have been resting on the couch most of the day. I am feeling a bit better. I need to go grocery shopping. I make everything homemade because I am on The Paleo Diet. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Thank you all for your support!

Stephanie, this may sound like random suggestion, but on Paleo, does that allow taking fish oil supplements? Because these are helpful in stabilizing moods (as well as general brain resilience).

For people with mood disorders like bipolar, I've heard it recommended to take high doses -- up to 3000-5000mg/day. Working your way up from like 1000mg/day (I think in part to mimimize fish burps).

Sorry if random, just a thought. I've been working up taking these. Also magnesium for calming (at recommendation of one of the docs giving me neurofeedback), and a B-complex for all around functioning and balance.

Stephanie,

I am so sorry that Friday was such a tough day! You're not alone. I've been there, too. I like watching TV, too, sometimes it's like the only thing I can do. It's distracting, gives me a little break from spinning around inside my head.

Oh, and I agree with Jemini, do take vitamins... I take 4800mg of fish oil softgels a day (1200mg 4 times daily (wake up, before lunch, before dinner, bedtime)) and high potency sustained release B vitamins (basically, each pill is like 100mg of each of multiple of the B vitamins, and I take 4 of these a day) and regular multivitamins with iron (I'm iron deficient), oh and extra vitamin C, 'cause God, the last thing you want when you're feeling crappy is to get a cold. So... yeah, vitamins do work. I will notice, like sometimes after making dinner (which, y'know only happens when I'm having a good day), that I'm starting to feel lousy, and then I realize that I didn't take my vitamins. They do make a difference. Of course, I've been doing this for years, too... so, well, just saying, they're not going to cure everything, but every little bit helps, and taking vitamins is pretty easy.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, too. I didn't know what it was, I had to look it up. I've had thyroid problems, too (nothing as severe as you) and some doctors have throw around the idea that I have adrenal exhaustion, too. I've always felt better when I've stuck to low-carb diets (and Paleo's similar to low carb, right?), but I know what a pain in the ass actually sticking to these kinds of diets can be. It's like, hey, I'm depressed, can't I just get a twinkie, here? (Sorry - maybe joking's not appropriate, but this is what I often think. ;D) So, that's terrific that you're making everything from scratch. Scratch made foods (whatever they may be) are always healthier that the processed, 100-ingredient things sold in the store.

And finally, I just wanted to say hang in there. It's a terrible, terrible place to be. I'm so sorry! But it will change, everything changes.

D

Some great messages of support here. I can also recommend the fish cap oils and magnesium, either flakes or tincture. It really calms you down and the fish gives your brain resilience and greater memory capacity.

I've also had those days before...lots. I have friends who are having them lately. Things do get better in time...but it can feel like it takes forever sometimes to get there. Hang in there.
