Thanks LB, for kindly pointing out my errors - you can just say I'm wrong - I really don't mind ;) I know that stuff gets passed on, that's not necessarily factually true, so you won't upset me, by saying I'm talking a load of old rubbish!
I think the point is that no-one should need to start the engine of any car daily and leave it running for 20 minutes - it's just not necessary and will likely cause more harm than good. He has probably messed up his own engine by doing this! Certainly no-one in my street does this, yet they all seem to get to work daily. Even my poor old car (which is thrashed my me, wanting to drive fast and trying to 'beat' everyone at the lights!) still starts first time every time, no matter how cold.
