Thanks LB, for kindly pointing out my errors - you can just say I'm wrong - I really don't mind ;) I know that stuff gets passed on, that's not necessarily factually true, so you won't upset me, by saying I'm talking a load of old rubbish!

I think the point is that no-one should need to start the engine of any car daily and leave it running for 20 minutes - it's just not necessary and will likely cause more harm than good. He has probably messed up his own engine by doing this! Certainly no-one in my street does this, yet they all seem to get to work daily. Even my poor old car (which is thrashed my me, wanting to drive fast and trying to 'beat' everyone at the lights!) still starts first time every time, no matter how cold.

Yes you did have a lot of facts correct CB so it was certainly not rubbish :) Yes In short theres no need for anyone to run there vehicle for 20 minutes unless it has a fault i.e trying to run on cooking oil. It maybe the mechanic in me but I would be curious to know why he thinks running it for 20 minutes is needed. Cos as CB just said hes almost certaintly shorting the life of his engine and causing more damage.

I am going to be very good though and not say a word to the idiot (thumbs up to that). But heaven help him if he dares even breath at me wrong from now on.

Ooops and theres me promising to be good and not get wound up about this any more. OK I will just smile sweetly bat my eye lashes at him, then quote him all the info I am going to read and inwardly digest to the last full stop.

Informed and extremely dangerous will be the way forward. :D :eek:
