New Here
Dx with ptsd at 19, now 44 still suffering. Not on any meds right now. No medical insurance.

I saw this site and hoped maybe it would help me understand myself better. I can relate 2 alot of the intros.

I cannot remember alot of my childhood(mostly just the bad). I would like 2 help myself & others.

My therapist ( can no longer see her)said I would always have PTSD, that I would have 2 learn 2 live with it & manage it. How do I manage it?

Welcome to the forum. :)

Check out the stick threads at the tops of the forums. When you are comfortable share your story. There are a lot of supportive people here who can help you learn.

Best wishes.

I love your cat.

My t also told me that I would have PTSD. But she told me that someday, I could live with it sitting next to me, rather than on top of me. I am there, now...but once in a while that bugger still gets the upper hand. And when it does, the people on the forum can be a big help. Welcome.

Thanks. I really like what you said about it sitting beside you instead of on you.
Thank You. You have given me HOPE. Thank You a3a2.:)

Welcome to the forum. I'm also 44, and have had PTSD for a very long time (Diagnosis in 1993, symptoms since 1989). I've found that I understand it far better since coming here, and it's been very valuable to be able to have the support of people that "get it". It's nice to not have to explain every single little thing that would stress you out, and it's nice to be able to read something and think , "HA! So I'm NOT the only one!" . I hope you find what you need here.

Welcome to the forum.

I hope you feel as at home here as I do. It is a great place for information, support and friendship.
