Hello :-)

My names sapphire I'm 26 years old from Scotland.

Just recently diagnosed with PTSD and Depersonilation and Derelization/Disscoiation.

Surviver of multiple rape traumas and child sexual abuse within a children's home.

Very scared these days: very emotionally numb, very physically numb (my body feels numb all over) is this something anyone else can relate to?

Just looking to make some new friends and give some help to others if I can

Welcome. The circumstances in which you found us is awful, to say the least, but we are glad you are here.

Numbness is very normal. It is just your mind and body's way of saying that it doesn't feel safe enough to deal with the trauma. I wish there was a way to sugar coat this, but when the feelings do come back, you will be flooded if you don't have proper coping skills in place. Learn them now.

Since you were just diagnosed I am assuming you are in treatment. The support from this site and a good therapist should help get you on the road of healing.

On a lighter note, I have never been to Scotland but it is in my top 5 places I want to visit.

Welcome! Very glad you are here but sorry for the cicumstances.
Yes feeling numb is normal . it's a coping skill we learned to protect our self.
You will get a lot of support and validation here. Very kind and caring people in all stages of healing.
Hope you have a good Therapist and we will be here to help.
Gentle welcome hugs if you accept. If you aren't ready for them, simply know they are here and you can use them when you feel like it.

Hello fadeaway, lovely to meet you and
Thankyou so much for your lovely post. I am currently receiving CBT therapy and starting specially designed trauma therapy soon aswell.

I do get feelings every now and again were my body is not numb and I feel emotions it does hit me like a ton of bricks very hard and then I panic and fall straight back in to dissociation.

I'm hoping that I can start to heal with everyone's help and the therapy, feel like my life has been halted at the age of 26 and not really seeing a way out right now.

Hello ladee, thankyou very much for tor post and hugs are gratefully appreciated thankyou.

I guess I just got scared a lot that I was the only one who ever felt that there whole body was completely numb, still need to be careful as I can't always tell if I have burned myself when I'm cooking not good :-(.

I look forward to speaking to people and hopefully helping some other people along the way too.

I'm also new here and newly dx with ptsd, but I've been coping in the same way you describe since I was little. I feel the numbness more than any other emotion now. Used to just be angry, all the time. Pissed always. About 10 yrs ago I started my family and decided I couldn't punch everyone pregnant, so I bottled it all up. I just started therapy so I'm trying to learn new feelings. Im also trying to talk about it, its been a challenge. So I can def relate :/
