New Here
My friend and his wife just had a baby about 2 weeks ago. They hired me as their full time babysitter, Mon-Thurs 8-5 and occasional late night. This is not a problem, I love them, I love babies and I'm actually pretty thrilled. I start in the middle of October when the mom goes back to work from maternity leave. My only concern is when I have my "off" days when I'm sluggish or cranky or a little weary from a nightmare... what do I do? breathing techniques? Journaling? I have to keep the environment safe for the baby at all times and I have no doubt I can do that, I just need ways to boost my spirits on an occasional off day. I want to be prepared.

I use to work for a daycare. On my off days I was too busy playing with the little ones to even have a chance to think about being off. If that makes sense.

Just play with the baby or clean the bottles or pick up their house or anything that deals with the baby to keep your mind off it :)

Journaling would be good too for when the baby is asleep or something. Bring some of your favorite and comforting things with you. Just sit and think about it and write down little things you can carry with you. Maybe a quote or poem or a pretty stone-something that will boost your mood when you look at it. A book if you like to read. Watch something funny on TV. Listen to relaxing music.

CONGRATULATIONS by the way :)
