Hi ArmyFister1016
Welcome to the forum and well done for joining the site. Seeking help can be tough and a scary experience so hats off to you making the first move. I would suggest you talk to your senior officer. It sounds as though it is time for some help and the sooner any signs of ptsd are recognised and treated the better. My partner left the services 12 years ago and is only just seeking help now through the UK based combat stress.

He suffers from the nightmares, angry outbursts etc. He had managed to control it (to some degree as I still had the fall out at home of anger outbursts) until a vehicle accident triggered everything off big time last year. There followed a few episodes with angry outbursts to members of the public and at this point I knew something had to be done or he could end up in prison. He is now doing EMDR (please google it as too long to describe) and says it is helping tremendously. By him doing this therapy our relationship may be saved as without it I could not carry on. I have noticed that although his dreams are worse at the moment (all part of the therapy, the brain processing and putting to bed traumatic experiences) and that he broke down in tears recently for the first time since a child, he is slowly becoming calmer and more in control of his emotions.

I warn you, he is physically sick before his sessions so that tells you how tough the therapy can be but it is very effective and will be worth it in the end so be brave and go for it. Don't be ashamed to ask for the help you need. Remember, to have experienced the type of trauma and nerve wrenching stuff you have on tour, if it didn't affect you to some degree then you wouldn't be human!!! combat ptsd is a normal Human reaction to not normal experiences. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

I wish you all the best.
