In the June 11 issue of academic journal Military Medicine, a new study entitled "Effects of Transcendental Meditation in Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom With Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: A Pilot Study" was published. It details a recently-completed pilot study in which 5 veterans of the Iraq/Afghanistan wars practiced transcendental meditation techniques over a period of 8 weeks. After those 8 weeks, the study participants reported a 50% reduction in symptoms including stress and depression as well as an increase in overall quality of life and relationships.

I found a pdf copy of this study through google. They started with 11 people and only 5 stuck it out. It was an interesting read. However, with only 5 people sticking it out, this "study" doesn't not convince me. "Dr. Rosenthal" also has a book out covering this subject. I think this is more hype than "study".
