Well hubby is not good today, all because of the fireworks. He told me he was too embarrassed to come down and tell me because my daughter and partner were here. I told him he should have as they do understand.

He was so bad he nearly got in the wardrobe to drown out the sound. It also made him physically sick, which upset him even more.

So today he is in and out of bed not knowing which way is up.

I have managed to get him to eat, but he is still badly shaken form them.

Hi Amethist
My partner also has a problem with fireworks to the point where he has been physically sick through anxiety. His solution that works most of the time is to go on holiday during beginning of November to miss the fireworks night on the fifth. He is ok if we go to a planned firework display as he can prepare himself but it is the unexpected fireworks that really get him. We were indoors this new years and some fireworks were going off near us and I could see him becoming more anxious abductees by the minute. I tell him to put ear plugs in and listen to loud music!

I think he would have been fine had he not gone to bed as we had them on the TV, he is usually fine with them that way.

The problem was they woke him up and that's what got him going.

I totally understand. It is frustrating as there is no way to control the intrusion of these sudden fireworks apart from wearing ear plugs for hours on end!!!

My vet is the same with fireworks. He told me that from the beginning, unexpected fireworks and extremely large crowds of people are his top triggers. Maybe get a pair of noise canceling headphones- like ear pro (usually used for shooting) They're kind of expensive but if it keeps him calm, it would be worth it to me. or at least some ear plugs for sleep. Best of luck.
