lol It would look like I'm sacrificing you to whatever made the scary sound.

Funny true story

I'm arachnophobia. I was in a car with my cousin, her two kids, and 3 dogs. We were all doing fine had just stopped at a friend's house in order to drop off some food. The car had barely stopped when I heard her older son "wow look at the size of that spider!" To hear my cousin Jane talk about it apparently I somehow opened the door without even touching it and was out of the car into the down pour that was going on outside and 15 feet away before she could even form the thought to reach for the handle. Jane isn't as bad as me but still not good and she was out moments latter. We stood there looking at the car as her son was taking the quarter sized spider out of the area. To us we saw something rivaling the size of my chihuahua. I looked at Jane and started laughing. She looked back at me shocked by my response and asked what was so funny. I told her "If we ever get invaded by radioactive spider aliens your kids will be the first to go." After reassuring each other that it was safe we got back into the car dripping wet. Her older son looked at both of us and shook his head. He said "don't worry guys I can make sure that no daddy long legs will kill you today" I was so embarrassed.

my fear, and it drives my so nuts, is windows at night when the curtains aren't closed. We live in a fairly large house and I have to go around and shut all the curtains. he just gets mad because he has to open them again the next day lol

Selena welcome hope you find some support here, like you i often clam up in person. Think that is something alot of us can relate to, lots of friendly support of here though from your comfort zone of a screen. Glad you found us.

Welcome to the forum, Selena!

I see you take my same SSRI, smile. About the nightmares... can you ask your doctor about Prazosin for the nightmares? It is technically a blood pressure med when taken at the 75 mg or so level. However, at the 1 or 2 mg dosage it stops nightmares like a charm, increasing the quality of sleep you get. My nightmares stopped completely for a number of months. As my system got used to the med, they showed up again, but never more than 1 or 2 a month. That is priceless as I started with several nightmares each night, every single night.

Take care!

Welcome to the forum Selena. I know how much courage it took for you to post the first time so give yourself a pat on the back!

You will find support here and yes it does help one to not feel so isolated. Sounds like you probably already have a lot of knowledge on how to manage your symptoms, but you still might want to visit the wiki pages here. I have reread different info at different stages of my healing and usually find some nuggets that I passed over previously, possibly because I just wasn't ready for the info yet.

I hope you find the forum as helpful and supportive as the rest of us here. It's been a lifesaver for me on many occasions ;o) Welcome!
