we used to sing (well kind of sing..you know?) to my last cat...
"Frinksy cat frinksy cat, oh Frinksy Frinksy Frinksy, Frinksy cat frinksy cat,....." well you get the idea...the tune was "lollipop" (i think by the chordettes) but instead of those words it was frinksy cat....
I cant really believe that I just logged back on to tell you that!!!!

Sometimes I call my father Baba'ali, which is like "Father Ali." The reason why is because when we went to Morocco everyone would come up to him and say "Baba Ali?" Baba Ali is a character from children's books who has seven wives and has a beard. My dad also has a beard, so he got called Baba'ali. And I usually call him Baba, and so sometimes I just add on the -'ali.

How did your cat take being sung to, fin? My cat hates when I sing to him. I think something about the singing voice annoys him. But that is cute what you used to sing! Smile.

Fin, I think it is so cute that you used to sing songs about your cat. I sing songs about Lupish all the time...made up whole musicals about him..he LOVES it when I sing to him, especially if it is about him. Lupish really likes music. He has pretty good taste usually. He's definitely not a fan of Black Metal though..lol. He really likes my opera voice, I've heard some cats like opera because it reminds them of kittens mewing. I wonder if that has anything to do with why he likes it. Anyway, singing to animals is great, though anyone who has witnessed me do it thinks I am insane :)

My dog Sigurd is also known as Mister Pooh. My other dog Egil is known as Egg, The Egg, The Oaf and Mister Oofy (thats kind of punning but in french).

My son is known as "The Beast"
My youngest daughter is "Moo"
The eldest is "Monk", or "Stump"

My mrs is "The Rock"

It is fummy for some reason the pets I have had, i always addressed them as Miss..Sug.(for sugar) Miss QT, now that is my cat and the other one i call her Misses Miley. I used to refer to my brother by..tink, he no longer accepts that. It is funny he called me chubby for years and now he is chubby so he changed his nickname for me to skinny..haha..I am now the skinny one and he has packed on the beef! He also calls my mother...chicken woman and his wife, Huli..after her maiden name, halushenski... i call my son babe monkey dunk..that is not as often but he used to crawl like a monkey as a baby..that was 13 years ago...I should stick to the babe, I think or just call himm Dev or babe is ok, i think. I have not had a pet name for my ex-husbands other than now...goof, liar, narcissist, ha ha ha. My ex, and I loved it at the time called me Josephina. I do not know why...my grandmothers name (on my maternal side is Josephine! I just used to like it. I hope one day to have someone call me a pet name that makes me feel all tingly inside when i felt when he did. Most of my friends call me either Jody or Jo...or Jody Rae. It really does not matter to me as long as they are being nice to me.
We,my son and I have agreed to getting a mini daschund for a pet when we move, a compromise because I really want a tea cup poodle. So we comprimised as you can buy teacup daschunds. That should be good for us...We have deceided to call her Ella Morgan...I wonder what cutsie name we will comu up with, probably Miss ort Misses Ella!!!! Love it....I am looking forward to a puppy and then i have a reason to get out and walk as it is a requirement. Good for my sons activity level too!

Ohhh and I just remembered my sons father called me fat ass...at 130..to start and then delivering his baby...amazing how we can allow others to treat us.

Ha ha, just reminded me Fin. I sometimes sing to my cat, a "modified" version of Copa Cabana, except it's "Rufus... Rufus the Dufus... he's got will-nots on his ass, and he likes to roll in grass, his name was Rufuuuuuuuus.... we fell in looooove".

How do you like me now? ;P

Lol, "Balad to Rufus", that is too funny.

I call my "little German Shepherd" LoveBug, Bubby, Baby, Chompers, Bug. She's a "senior" now- (hate to say it) but if she gets the "runs" (ohoh- hey, she's 12) = call it Dire Rears.

Big Shepherd (Red Baron) used to call Sweet Baby, Sweet Baby Reddy, Sweets, Little Lord Fauntelroy, .. and big surprise "Junebug", lol.

Samoyeds used to call Hamlet, Hammie-the-Sammy and Hammie-Bananie; Panda used to call Panny and Panuelo and the Veggie-Meister.

Dire Rears, too funny ;P I like the Veggie-Meister, too. Actually, I like just about anything with "meister" tucked on the end. OK, I'm easy to please :)

I am smiling -tickled and loving reading this thread.....brilliant the names we use

Dave I can hear the copa song....and it fits brilliantly.... his name was rufus....

does Rufus "drill for oil" behind the sofa ?

My father nicknamed all us kids from childhood for one reason or another... mine was "knoddy." I think he got it from "Knobby" which he also called me because he believed I have knobby knees... I think Knoddy just reverted over the years as a better choice for him. I do answer to it though....
