Well, Knoddy or is it Knobby I'm not sure which is the more endearing!

Myself, I got named Crocky by my step father. It was due to my ability to polish off food while growing up and I didn't mess around doing it.

I think I was bigger in size as a teenager than I have been for my 20 something years as an adult.

These are just soo cute and really endearing to read.

Anthony we had a top footballer here that played in the line-up against West Germany the year we won the world cup in '66. Nobby (Norbert) Stiles he was small but tenascious....a wicked mid-fielder...a lot of lads playing football were called "Nobby" when I was a child...it was a total compliment...
not that I think for one minute you were nick-named after an English footballer LOL
there was a girl when I was at school who wanted to play football for england and she was called it...not really flattering esp for a girl....but she could really play football.

am smiling craggs....a "euphemism for something nasty" what?........what?.........as if?

No; you know when your cat does the whole stray cat strutt thing and walks through like he owns the house and stuff...and then he just sidles on over to the sofa and then down behind the sofa (or whatever)... and then you hear this noise....and you look round to see what he is doing, and it stops and then after you have gone back to what you were doing.... it starts again....this low kind of muffled noise - yup he's drilling....for oil, for gold, anything...just drilling for the love of drilling! He has little goggles he puts on, and a compressor in the corner.....so no...that noise you've heard and thought was purring.....its drilling.

Wish I could take credit for that, although we did always joke that frinks was drilling....just hadnt perfected it...youtube eddie izzard -cats and dogs, its longer than I have gone for here. I think Eddie is one of our best standup comedians.....just brilliant.. am pretty sure you will like him.- he really is just too funny

Fin, I looked up "eddie izzard cats and dogs" on youtube - that was priceless. I love the bit he does on "new improved dog & cat food" - the cat takes one sniff and says, "Oh really... well I'm going out" ;P

Too funny. Thanks.

I knew you would like it....(well I hoped you would)...he is just soo funny... you are very welcome.

Luthien I dont know if you would like to see this but...
youtube.com/watch?v=4TM3GbxaNLI From "the Secret Policemans Ball" an amnesty international fund raiser -this one from a couple of years ago.... am glad you liked eddie izzard....

ok and a loose connection to the thread ...but the guy doing the thing has two names...so it just gets in under the thread...yeah am sorry I realised too late to be able to move this and so am adding that bit about the names...but it is true....

Fin,

That cracked me right up...I don't know how she sang along without laughing..
I have always disliked the song...but this guy's interpretation of it was great. I laughed through the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing.

Update: So, I just discovered that Natalie covered this song, and that the original was done by a group called...Ednaswap...I really like their version.

How's that for a huh??

It's on youtube if anyone's interested...

One song, a few names and various releases

Am so glad you liked it Luthien, just thought it was sOo funny, and wanted to share.
David Armand going under the name of Johann Lippowitz, Vienna's foremost interpretive dance artist. Totally brilliant.

There are quite a few versions of it; Trine Rein, Off by One, and one in Danish (I think), by Lis Sørensen (I think this was the first release in '93) called "Brændt", just about all of them are on youtube.

I hadnt heard the Ednaswap version, like it too as an alternative.
I like the faster pace of the Imbruglia take, although I prefer the rock sound

It didn't go down well that Natalie Imbruglia's became the hit it was. I remember it being in the papers at the time.
I can't remember which one, but one of the writers was involved in all the versions that came after the original...and I dont think the first recording of it was even by Ednaswap - their single was released '95 ?
But I do think it is a good song.

Thankyou Luthien
